José Chavarri, instrumentalist and spokesman for the group of protesters, explained that this day of peaceful protest took place in front of the institution’s headquarters and served to request salary improvements, as well as other labor benefits that they consider essential to improve the quality of life of the employees.

“We demand that the Ministry of Petroleum meet the demands made in terms of health, safety, food, and that it provide us with personal protection equipment to carry out our work,” said Chavarri, who believes that PDVSA does not value highly qualified personnel it employs.

They say that currently the provisions of safety equipment, dining services, and medical insurance among others, are suspended and yet they do not receive any response from the company’s management.
